Les Chefs au Sommet d’Auron 2020 has unveiled at the Ecole Hôtelière et de Tourisme in Nice its delicious sunny gastronomic program to take gastronomes to summits of flavors.
Les Chefs au Sommet d’Auron is a culinary festival that celebrates gastronomic delights at Haute Tinée resorts. Skiing, sun and pleasures of the table will take you on the snowy slopes of alpine and locavores delights! For a week, from January 18 to 24, 2020, the Festival of Mountain Gastronomy will highlight Haute Gastronomy in Auron, Saint-Damas-le-Selvage and Saint-Étienne de Tinée. A sharing and culinary happiness event that will spice up your winter holidays!
A couple of amazing chefs
Love and gastronomy, generosity and conviviality at the 9th edition of the Chefs au Sommet d’Auron! It’s a couple of chefs with a particularly bubbling creative culinary genius who will sponsor the event: Noëlle and David Faure from SensÔriel in Nice. David and Noëlle, his adventure partner, share the same passion and take great pleasure in innovating, diverting, revisiting the tradition. The culinary art of the chefs, united in the city as in the kitchen, bring the Nissarde cuisine tastes and colors, sometimes plunging their spatulas into the molecular kitchen to juggle with textures and colors and exalt the aromas, with a sharp sense of entertainment.
Régal for taste buds and pupils
Les Chefs au Sommet d’Auron, the high-altitude culinary event in the spectacular snow-capped Mercantour peaks of Southern Alps, will be celebrating mountain gastronomy with the greatest chefs from the Côte d’Azur from Saturday to Thursday. The restaurants in the Auron resort, in Saint-Damas-le-Selvage and Saint-Étienne de Tinée will welcome renowned Chefs and Pastry Chefs from the region in their cuisines.
Every night, three different duos chef:pastry chefs will officiate in three restaurants to make an exceptional dinner. In a warm and authentic atmosphere, vacationers and valley dwellers will have the opportunity to enjoy sumptuous gastronomic menus at a special and unique price of 45 euros. Composed of an amuse-bouche, a starter, a main course and a dessert, the menus are sure to delight the gourmets’ taste buds.
The Mercantour and its products in the spotlight
Building on the success of previous editions, the Festival of Mountain Gastronomy, organized by the Auron Tourist Office, supported by Auron, Saint-Étienne de Tinée, the Tourist Office, the SEM des Cimes du Mercantour, the Chamber of Trades Alpes-Maritimes and Artisans Arts and Délices, will highlight the locavore, organic products and products from short circuits, expressing the love of the terroir.
The chefs let the gastronomes discover the best products from Le Mercantour, sublimated during this delicious event on the theme of Locavore and Bio. The festive program will also give a spotlight on the mountain products provided largely by the Montagnes Paysannes Association, a group of Puget-Théniers producers.
Honor to the Maîtres Restaurateurs
Michel Guillot, President of the Tourist Office of the Stations of the Mercantour, unveiled the tantalizing program of the Chefs au Sommet d’Auron on December 9, 2019 in the salons of the Hotel and Tourism School of Nice, in the presence of the chefs, partners and actors who will animate the Festival of Mountain Gastronomy. The 2020 edition will be honoring the Maîtres Restaurateurs, the chefs whose talent is rewarded by a prestigious state label. This label is based on specifications that require recognized professional skills and commitment to work raw, mainly fresh and seasonal products and to achieve a home-made cuisine. This title rewards some establishments of excellence, small bistros as well as gastronomic tables.
La Cuisine Spectacle gala dinner
The young Maîtres Restaurateurs des Alpes Maritimes, represented by Theo Mansi, their President, will for the first time concoct the menu of a magnificent gala dinner on the theme of La Cuisine Spectacle for a hundred guests at the opening of the festival. The recipes will be implemented by the students of Lycée Paul Augier, the Hotel and Tourism School of Nice, under the aegis of their principal, Denis Férault, and a teaching team. About fifty gastronomy students and their teachers will officiate in the kitchen and in the dining room to give an exceptional gastronomic dinner where cooking in “open space” and animations will make La Cuisine Spectacle an unforgettable dinner.

Breathtaking Show by Toques Brûlées
Les Chefs au Sommet d’Auron will begin with a weekend of gastronomic events. To appetite small gourmands and big gourmets, the festivities will begin on Saturday, January 18, 2020 with the inauguration of Les Chefs au Sommet d’Auron in the presence of godmothers and godfather Noëlle and David Faure. On Sunday, the gastronomes will be spoiled by the now traditional Show Cooking, a barbecue at the foot of the slopes with tasting of grillades performed by the Toques Brûlées animated by the bustling David Faure. Twenty supercharged chefs will ignite the snow front with their giant barbecue to the delight of the skiers of the resort.
Culinary demonstrations and workshops
While the parents will be in the kitchen of the workshops, their little diablotins will be able, according to their mood, to play the apprentices cooks like mom and dad by realizing one of their favorite dish or to attend cooking demonstrations and playful workshops in the “P’tits Chefs” workshops.
Every evening, a gourmand Five to Seven around the rink will offer a market of local products, workshops and demonstrations of cooking and pastry organized by the Union of Artisans Pastry Chocolatiers of Alpes-Maritimes, but also introductions to oenology, dietetics, Locavore, organic products… Many fun and very slippery animations will entertain without moderation children of all ages.

Le Riounet, official cocktail signed Victor Delpierre
Victor Delpierre, Cocktail & Barista World Champion, creator of flavors and experiences in restauration, likes to provoke the unexpected with his Cuisine des Boissons. The World Champion will animate the restaurants with After-Ski barista demos and Cocktails Party and will share with all skiers his official cocktail, created especially for the station of Auron: Le Riounet 2597 (after the name of Auron’s mythical summit). Orange and lemon from Menton, Triple Sec Combier 1834 and cocoa compose a comforting cocktail after the effort, which can be discovered fresh or with a drop of Champagne.
