Les Chefs au Sommet d’Auron 2018 will be Organic and Locavore, a delicious ski, sun and gastronomy program by renowned chefs, with the Chef Pâtissier Christian Cottard as godfather.
Les Chefs au Sommet d’Auron 2018 is organized in partnership with the Auron Tourist Office and the international gastronomic festival Les Étoiles de Mougins, in association with the traders and craftsmen from Auron and Saint Etienne de Tinée. For a week, the Festival of Mountain Gastronomy will honor the high gastronomy on the slopes of Auron and the resorts in Haute Tinée. From 20th to 26th January 2018, skiing, sun and gastronomy will take you on the snowy slopes of alpine delights!
Locavore and Organic Products
For the first time, Les Chefs au Sommet d’Auron will be championed by a great Pastry Chef, French Champion of Dessert: the master craftsman Christian Cottard from Antibes. Building on the success of the previous editions, this festival of gastronomy supported by the town of Saint Etienne de Tinée, the Tourist Office, the SEM des Cimes du Mercantour and the Chamber of Trades of the Alpes-Maritimes and the Artisans of Arts and Delights, will honor the Locavore and Organic Products. An event of sharing and culinary happiness to urgently insert into your winter vacation dates.
Cooking by renowned chefs
Les Chefs au Sommet d’Auron, the high-altitude culinary event amidst the sumptuous Mercantour snow-capped peaks in the Southern Alps, will be celebrating from Saturday to Thursday the mountain gastronomy with the greatest chefs from the coast. The restaurants in the Auron resort, Saint Damas-le-Selvage and Saint Etienne de Tinée will host renowned Chefs and Pastry Chefs from the region into their cuisines. Every night, three different chefs will officiate in three restaurants and will perform an exceptional dinner. In a warm and authentic atmosphere, vacationers, seasonal workers and inhabitants of the valley will have the opportunity to enjoy some real gastronomic menus at the privileged and unique price of 45 euros. Composed of an amuse-bouche, an starter, a main course and a dessert, the menus are sure to delight the gourmets’ taste buds.
Mercantour products in the spotlight
The chefs will make the gastronomes discover the French culinary art with the best products from the Mercantour, sublimated and honored during this delicious event on the theme of Locavore and Bio, some products from short distribution channels, expressing the love of the terroir. This festive program will also put a spotlight on mountain products provided largely by the Association Montagnes Paysannes, a group of producers in Puget-Théniers. Cuisine of Haute Tinée and old recipes revisited will be the spearhead of this beautiful gourmand event.
Christian Cottard, godfather of the 7th edition
Michel Guillot, President of the Tourist Office of the Mercantour Stations, has unveiled the program of Les Chefs au Sommet d’Auron, on November 24, 2017 on the terrace of the Pastry and Restaurant Cottard in Antibes in the presence of the chefs and actors who will animate the Gastronomy Festival. Some new features will be added to this program already rich in festivities as the demonstrations by Victor Depierre, World Cocktail & Barista Champion, who will enliven the restaurants for After-Ski Demos and Cocktails Party. Throughout the weekend, ice sculpture artists will unveil their talent in the heart of the Auron resort.
The unmissable Chaudron Soup over a wood fire and gourmet strolls on the slopes, which enjoyed great success last year, will again delight the amateurs who want to experience thrills and the pleasure of hiking with their mouths full and a happy heart.
The Toques Brûlées ignite the tracks
Les Chefs au Sommet d’Auron will begin with a weekend of gastronomic events. To awaken the small gourmands and big gourmets’ appetite, the festivities will begin on Saturday, January 20, 2018 with the inauguration of Les Chefs au Sommet d’Auron in the presence of the godfather Christian Cottard.
On Sunday, the gastronomes will have a choice between a Show Cooking with tasting of grilled meat at the foot of the slopes, made by the Toques Brûlées animated by the fast-paced David Faure. The supercharged chefs will ignite the snow front with their giant barbecue. Sports enthusiasts will be able to participate in gastronomic games on the ski area.
Cooking demonstrations and fun workshops
While the parents will be in the kitchen for cooking demonstrations, their little devils will be able to play apprentices like mom and dad, by making one of their favorite desserts, or by attending cooking demonstrations and fun workshops.
Every evening, a gourmand 5 to 7 around the rink will propose a local products market, workshops and pastry demonstrations organized by the Union of Artisans Pâtissiers Chocolatiers of Alpes-Maritimes, but also demonstrations by Jam World Champion Stephan Perrote, introductions to oenology, dietetics, locavore, organic products… many funny and very slippery animations will entertain without moderation the children of any age.
